LONGVILLIERS, FRANCE – Protesting farmers are "sieging" Paris by blocking all major highways with their tractors, demanding fair prices and relaxed regulations.

Farmers from across Germany march to Berlin's Brandenburg Gate for their final rally against cuts to agricultural subsidies on Monday, January 15.
It follows a week of nationwide protests against the government's austerity measures.
Before the protests, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's administration partially made an about-face, abandoning its plan to remove the vehicle tax exemption and deciding to gradually abolish tax breaks on agricultural diesel – which the union German farmers called it "absolutely insufficient".
The coalition is trying to plug a €17 billion hole in this year's budget, cutting costs in green energy, construction and support for industry.
